Our story
CRAWER started where our products are still expected to perform today: in the field. What began as a practical solution on a dairy farm in the Netherlands has grown into an international lighting brand, supplying agricultural lighting solutions to customers in more than 37 countries worldwide.
Our agricultural roots continue to shape the way we develop products, work with our partners and look at the market. We believe good lighting should not make installation more complicated. It should fit the machine, work as intended and provide a genuine upgrade.
That principle has guided CRAWER from the beginning and continues to drive us today.
Built from the field
CRAWER originated from a practical need within agriculture. While running their dairy farm in the Netherlands, founders Rob and Dominique Haarhuis experienced the limitations of the existing lighting on their own agricultural machinery, particularly during work in low-light conditions.
Their search for better LED lighting initially focused on their own equipment. Interest from neighbouring farmers soon followed, confirming that the need for better agricultural lighting extended beyond their own farm. As their experience with the available products increased, so did their understanding of the limitations. Fit, appearance, installation and overall product quality did not always meet the requirements of modern agricultural machinery.
This provided the foundation for CRAWER: agricultural lighting developed with a clear focus on application-specific fit, straightforward installation and reliable performance.
Retrofit without compromise
Our objective is to make upgrading agricultural lighting as straightforward and reliable as possible. When replacing original halogen or LED lighting, unnecessary modifications to the machine should be avoided. CRAWER therefore develops products around specific applications, taking into account dimensions, mounting points, electrical connections, electronics and the original design of the machine.
This approach enables us to combine the advantages of modern LED technology with the fit, functionality and appearance expected from a high-quality retrofit solution.
From idea to finished product
Since 2019, product development has been an integral part of CRAWER.
Products are developed in-house at our headquarters in Ter Apel. Depending on the application, the development process includes 3D modelling, mechanical design, electronics and printed circuit board development. Our in-house 3D-printing capabilities allow components and housings to be prototyped before production. Together with our workshop and testing facilities, this enables our development team to evaluate fit, installation and functionality directly during the development process.Testing remains important after a product has been introduced. Products and new applications are evaluated on a weekly basis, allowing our team to identify improvements and incorporate practical experience into future developments.
This continuous process helps ensure that products are not only technically correct in development, but also suitable for the conditions in which agricultural machinery operates.
